"Push, honey!" a male kitsune was shouting out, "We can get him out!"

"Shut up! I know that, it just hurts!" a female voice called back, "And it might not be a boy!"

The male sighed, "All right, we agreed an names for if it is a boy or it's a girl, right?"

The female responded with a scream, followed by, "Yes, Hitomi if it's a girl, Hakura if it's a boy."

Then all was calm, "Lai, are you all right?" the male asked.

"Yes, Shi'ip, I'm fine," the female responded, "Is it a boy, doctor?"

A female voice that sounded almost like a snake responded, "No... It's not a boy, misssss."

"Then it's a girl, Aaos?" Shi'ip asked.

"No," the snake-like voice came again.

Udah was listening from the hall as the shocked reply from the female kitsune came, "At least their child survived," he said, "And so did she."

Aaos sighed, "Lissssten to me, Lai. It may be neither male nor female, but then again, it sssurvived at lessss than a 40% chanccce of sssurvival."

Lai nodded, "Yes, but maybe we can find some sort of wizard or something to give it gender, I don't care which."

Udah knocked on the door, deciding to help them with their problems, "Excuse me, I couldn't help but overhear what was happening. I am a wizard, myself, and I've been searching for an apprentice," he lied, "what is the child's name?"

The door opened, and a rather grumpy-looking lamia was looking at him, her scales were green, and she didn't seem happy to be interrupted, "Its names are Hakura and Hitomi, it has no gender, and we have no interest in having a kitsune wizard for a child."

Udah sighed, "I take it you're the mother?"

"No, Lai is. I'm just her father's ssstepsissster, and the doctor here. Now leave before I'm inclined to go ahead and quit taking overtime today for a sssnack. You do look rather tasssty," the lamia said.

Lai sat up, "No, Aaos, I'd like for him to train my kit when it gets old enough. Can you enhance its abilities so it can take a gender?"

Udah nodded, "I can give it the ability to choose genders, but the spell would be too unstable for it to survive before it's 3 years old."

Lai stood, letting the robe she was wearing drape down, "Fine, we'll just call it H."
Aaos doesn't really like wizards, in case no one noticed. In fact, it's thanks to wizards that she lived as an orphan for most of her life.
